Your content and social spring clean to-do list

Spring is a great time to get your house in order - and that goes for your social media and content houses, too. Book in some time and work through the list, making sure everything is accurate, relevant, and up-to-date.

It’s time to get ship shape!

Check your social icons

Make sure the icons on your website link to the appropriate accounts, and that you’re still actually using those accounts. If you’re not, remove the icon.

Close dead accounts

At the very least, make sure there’s a note telling people the account is unmonitored and point them to one that is.

Update Twitter

It’s called X now, whether we like it or not, so reflect that in your language wherever you refer to Twitter on your website.

Check your social policy

Are your rules still relevant? Do you still monitor the same hours? Have you changed the way you deal with trolls? Make sure your policy is up-to-date and easy to find.

Clean up your links

Where are you linking to from your social bios? Are they appropriate and relevant? Or are you still guiding people to that election page from 2019?

Dive back into Threads

It’s been running for a while now so (hopefully) a few of the early wrinkles have been ironed out. See what people are doing, what’s working well, and whether it’s time to jump in.

Check your tech

Make sure it’s all charged and working for when you need it. Get your tripods and gimbals out of the cupboard and give them a whirl.

Search for evergreen content

Is there anything that’s done well for you recently that you can repurpose or repeat? Trawl through your content and update your evergreen list with a few more offerings.

Clean up your playlists

YouTube can quickly become a dumping ground if you don’t stay on top of it. Get it organised and looking sparkly.

See what’s new

New social channels are popping up constantly - when was the last time you took a tour of what’s on offer? Get exploring.

Get a refresh of your strategy

You probably haven’t looked at it for a while, so dig out that strategy and read it cover to cover. You will be surprised at what you find.

Go outside!

Creating content outdoors on a sunny day is one of the biggest perks of your job. Grab your phone, some fun colleagues, and go get creating!

Update your LinkedIn

No one does this enough, and it’s easy to spend time worrying about the work accounts while neglecting your personal ones. Update your headline, bio text, photo, experience, skills and more to make it better reflect where you’re at.

Ask for a pay rise

Why the hell not? Your audiences want you to get a raise, and you probably deserve it for the amount of shit you have to wade through. Put a case together, and sit down with your boss.
